Having a lovely time going nowhere

Wood, copper and bronze
ArtsCape – Byron Bay, July 2010

50cm H  by 240cm W by 100cm D each boat – overall work approx 6 metres high.

This work was shown in ArtsCape – Byron Bay, July 2010.  It’s a part of the world I’ve had a strong connection with through periods of my life, so it was wonderful to exhibit there.

I made the work specifically for ArtsCape, with a strong intention to integrate it with that environment. I’ve always been interested in the process of traditional wooden boat building, and the resultant forms.

This work enables me to explore that in detail, and to develop a more organic language in my materials, process and integration with landscape.
